I put a PowerTrax locker in my 2000 Dakota. It replaces the spider gears. The only thing is sometimes it made a popping noise when you turn when the splines disengaged.
Yes but that is not a harmful popping noise just locker doing what it is made to do right? how long has it been in truck and any drawbacks other than noise? This truck also does a lot of commuting. I travel 130 miles a day for work.
Nope, the unit just replaces the spider gears. Take one bolt out and the pin the rest will fall out in your hands. Best I remember the unit has springs you have to make sure stay in place when your putting the unit back in the housing. It's a positive lock up except when turning.
Had one in a Cherokee classic. Worked GREAT! I didn't really hear it disengage/engage in turns but I did when I backed up and turned a tad for some reason. Either way, no biggy! That thing was a BEAST! Helped it had a huge lift and 35s on it.....
