Default What Kind of AWD system in new Durango 6cyl?

Hello, I just ordered a 2013 SXT 6 cylinder AWD and wanted to know what type of AWD system it uses. Is it a clutch style where it drives the rear wheels until it detects slip and then engages the front or does it use a single speed transfer case (center differential) sending power to both front and rear axles simultaneously?

Thanks

According the dodge.com website:

The available full-time All - Wheel Drive (AWD) system boosts traction in poor driving conditions, allowing you to get anywhere you want to go. Fully automatic, the two-speed transfer case with Variable Torque Distribution directs up to 100% of available torque to the axle with the most traction when slippage is detected.

By two speed, they mean the available gearing selection, Hi AWD or Lo-AWD. The output to the front is infinitely variable using a viscous coupling (kinda like a torque converter). Sorry ifyou knew all that, I sure didn't when I started looking at the D.

Don't feel bad. The only 4X4 systems that I know are on tactical vehicles.

Default Awd

Previously I started a thread asking about AWD in my six cylinder Durango. I noted the responses (which I appreicated) but they did seem to quite answer my question. My 2013 six cylinder Durango does not have a two speed high and low range (wish it did). Right now I am assuming that mine still has the variable torque distrubution system like the two speed with the two ranges. Sound correct?
thanks
