The Lockpick V.4 does work in the 2012 Durango, but you need to set it to high speed. Also, the headrests are Active Restraints, wich means they are tied to SRS system and if you remove them, the airbag light will remain on. I have a workaround for this and it works fine. I have done this in my 2012 R/T and works perfect. The fix is below but first read this:
YOU WILL BE DISABLING THE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT, PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS AND UNDERSTAND THE LIABILITY AND/OR CONSEQUENCES OF THIS MOD BEFORE YOU DO IT.
Now for the Mod.
You will need the following parts:
2- 2.2 Kohms 1/2 watt resistors (preferably flameproof)
2- 1amp Pico fuse
You will use one resistor and 1 fuse for each headrest.
once you remove the back of the seat, you will see a wire with an orange connector coming down one of the headrest tubes, unplug this wire and remove the headrest ( you will need to push in the release with your fingers on one side and insert a paper clip in the small hole in the other side simultaneously).
Now the next step you can do two things:
1. Cut the plug off the wire on the headrest about half way up (so that you can resplice it back on later if you sell the vehicle)
1a. solder 1 resistor and 1 fuse together in series and then heatshring them leaving about 3/8 inch of leads exposed on either side. Solder each end to each of the wires on the plug you cut off from the headrest. Heatshrink again over the resistors and the exposed wires.
1c. Now reconnect the plug with the Resistor and Fuse to the vehicle harness that you removed it from.
1d. Repeat procedure for the other side.
1e. Enjoy your new headrest DVD and no airbag light
Method 2 (this is the one I used)
Instead of cutting the plug off the headrest (I did not want to do this since it is a leased vehicle)
I soldered the resistor and fuse, heatshrunk them as in method one and then inserted each end into the back of the vehicle side connector. This was a PITA as the sweet spot to get it in there is very small, but after a few tries, I got it in there.
Unfortunately my camera crapped out and I do not have pics. If I open my seats again I will take pics and upload them. If you have questions PM me.
Hope this helps
