First off I love my 2k Durango slt w/5.9. it is my first dodge all together and I'm getting what I feel is a great deal on it, however it does have some issues. The one that I need help on is the trans not shifting properly from 1st to 2cd. I usually have to let off the throttle to shift. Also I feel a little vibration when I accelerate in overdrive and sometimes 4th. Is this fixable? If not is the trans from a 99 v6 compatible? I am on a very low budget and can get one for free if I act now. Pls any help is greatly appreciated. Shawn, Anchorage ,Ak.
Glad your here. Of coarse you checked the rear drive u joints, my 99 felt like that and that's all it was. If your feeling a slipping vibration and it's full of fluid, sounds like your bands are wore to pieces. On these Dodges it's not what the trans is out of that determines whether it will work, you need th exact same trans, 46RE, 47RE, 48RE. The PCM in your Durango must match the transmission, and it's my understanding you can't reprogram the PCM to match another trans, from what it was designed for. Too many problems installing a mismatched trans. If your Durango is 4x4 it's a 46RE. Find out what's causing the vibration first..Let us know, Friend..
