My interior dome light is no longer working when I open the drivers side door. All other door "switches" are fucntioning properly. However when I looked at the door and the door jamb I see no switch piston or triggering mechanism. Is it possible this is actuated directly through the latch?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. With that not working properly its only a matter of time before I forget to shut off the headlights and end up killing the battery.

Not positive about your model but I know the newer ones are controlled at the latch. My guess is yours is also.

2002 Durango SLT, yeah thats what I kind of thought. As far as you know is there an electrical component to the latch or do I have to replace the whole latch?

I'm not sure, maybe someone else will chime in. If you get near a dealership may just want to stop in and check with the parts dept.
