I spoke to the Race Director at English Mountain Dragway today.

English Mountain Dragway
1323 Lewis Rd. Newport, TN. 37821

Our reception and other scheduled events won't start until Saturday morning, but if you want to go to the drag strip, you need to get to Gatty on Friday. (We're still going to try to do Autocross)

We're racing on Friday, June 10, 2011!

Gates open at 5pm
Practice is from 6-8pm
Racing is from 8 until finished

Spectator Entry fee is $6 (children 12 and under are free)

The fee to race is $15 and there is a trophy for the winner. I was told there is plenty of opportunity to get a lot of runs in.

For an additional $10 you can enter the Gambler's race. The more entries, the more money that goes to the winner.

He will also advertise to see if the local Mopar guys want to come out and play.

They are willing to change things up for us if we want. He said they can turn off the timers, scores, etc if we want. We just need to let him know.

Post if you plan to watch or race because I have to call him at least 2 weeks before the event.

Updated info..............
  • This is a 1/8 mile track.
  • Helmets are required if the car will run an elapsed time of 8.99 or better.
  • Classes at the track are pro, footbrake, and trophy. They will add classes for us if we want.
  • There are no restrictions on radiators (Killerglass is okay).
  • No inspections. They trust that the drivers want to be safe!
  • They will allow ride-alongs as long as the rider gets the same safety equpiment as the driver. They don't really have a minimum age as long as the parents are ok with it.
  • They do not like antifreeze. They said daily drivers should be okay but anything that may overheat or spill will have to be drained and filled with water. Their reason is that antifreeze is very hard to clean from the track.

Let me know if you're planning to race. I have to give the guy at the track some approximate numbers next week.
