Noise up front

I have an '01 that has some sort of driveline noise up front. I am having a hard time narrowing it down and I don't want to just trow parts at it.

It is a speed sensitive monotone noise. It is not the tires as you can differentiate between the tire/road noise and this noise. The noise does not go away when the brakes are pressed. The noise gets a little quieter when you are turning left but not when you turn right. It seems like it is coming from the driver's side. When I replaced the front brakes, I noticed the outer boot on the drivers side axle shaft was torn. I suspect it is the axle shaft that is causing the noise but I can't help but wonder if it might be the wheel bearing or maybe the bearing in the front differential.

What do you guys think?

I think you're on the right track. If the boot was torn the constant velocity joint may have gotten some dirt/grit in there and started wearing it.
