I've been looking into getting a new 2012 R/T Durango. I went ahead and signed up for in anticipation.

Anyone need to talk me out of it? Fuel mileage, random dimensional displacement, quacks at awkward moments?

Look forward to talking more to all of you soon!

:) Howdy! Welcome to DurangoZ from SW Florida :)
So, what does everyone think of their new Durango? Any complaints?
I love my 2011 R/T. I traded in a 2004 s500 mercedes, mostly so I could tow our trailer. The handling is fantastic with a tight turning radius. The 5.7l hemi is powerful and I think it will tow effortlessly (I'll let you know after vaca during x-mas). One drawback is that because I do 95% of my driving in L.A. I'm consistently getting below 13mpg. Interior is beautiful in its simplicity and easy to use. Love the touch screen system. The only options I don't have are the sun roof and tv system (never used either in my old car). Let me know if you have any specific questions. I've owned alot of old muscle cars (68, 70 & 71 Chevelles etc) and I think that this car is enough to satisfy that urge, without needing the constant maintenance and suppling a significant amount of luxury.
If you came here looking for someone to talk you out of buying a new Durango, I think you came to the wrong site. lol
I just wanted to make sure. I would assume every one loves there, but I was fishing for complaints. We were also looking at an Avalanche, but I think I've talked the wife out of it.

I have a 2008 Ram 3500 Dually Mega Cab and I'm just sick of it. I drive it like a sports car and eventually I'm going to wreck. Need smaller and sportier, but can still tow a car trailer on occasion.

I've got an FJ Cruiser and it's my go anywhere vehicle, plus my Honda Fury.

Now to get rid of the Ram.

Talk you out of it? I'm in the same boat as you! I'm planning on trading in my '11 RAM Big Horn for the R/T when I come back from my business trip. What sold me on the R/T wasn't the 7 person seating, the serious internal storage capability nor the fact that the towing is about the same as on my RAM, but the fact that it handles exactly like a LX body Charger R/T!!!! (2006-2010) Even the throttle response in Drive and using the Autostick is the same!!!!

Really? You think it drives the same as the 06 Charger R/T? I've driven the new R/T Durango and it drives nothing like my wife's 06 Charger R/T. While it definately drives much better than my 00 Durango R/T. It's still much slower off the line than the charger. Not to mention it still corners like a vehicle with a higher center of gravity.
I agree it rides very well. But to say handles the same as the Charger R/T is a bit of a stretch in my opinion.

Then me and you don't drive the same way. I was hitting tight corners doing about 40-50mph with no problems when I test drove it. The same way as I drive my SRT8. As for trottle response. I didn't see any difference between my roommate's modded '08 and the R/T in autostick or in drive.

I'm one of those MOPAR owners that actually drives the vehicle to close to its full potential without getting caught. Same way I drive my SRT8 I drive my RAM also. Except I got to go about 20mph slower on turns with the RAM than with my SRT8 and it's still faster than most pickups on the street right now (except the Raptor... still haven't been able to drive that one yet).

Well, I will admit, I didn't drive the Durango R/T hard. It was only the test drive after all. Didn't want to scare the salesman.
You must live in a very secluded area if you drive that SRT8 to it's full potential. After all, top speed on an unmodded 06 Charger SRT8 is about 170 mph. You may drive it hard, as most of us SRT8 owners do. But I doubt you drive it to it's full potential on the street.
I've had mine on both the drag strip and a road course multiple times. I must admit.... I LOVE driving mine but I keep the crazy driving on the track.
No I don't live in a secluded area. I just have that "I don't give a f..." attitude when it comes to speeding tickets. That and I've been lucky so far when it comes with LE not being around when I'm on the road. Still haven't taken my SRT8 to max yet. Fastest I had her was 150mph for about 2 -3 hours in Texas. My RAM it's top speed was 110mph before the governor kicked in.. When I tuned her, I had the needle pegged and it could handle it which surprised me. The Durango... still haven't had a chance to drive it hard yet. Been too busy with work lately/.
Welcome to the Durango Z from Gastonia N.C., Glad to have you with us !!!
