Sorry for the sucky first post guys, but I'm stumped. I'm posting this on a few different forums. They're pretty desperate to get this fixed.
This is a 2004 5.7L Hemi Dodge Durango
Here's the situation:
This vehicle has been stalling constantly. It's my girlfriend's mom's and she has brought it to a backyard mechanic that supposedly replaced the ECU, the fuse panel box and, well, the rest of the electricals. They've spent a ton of money just fixing this thing and she got it back after 2 or 3 months and it stalled 3 times within a few miles.
I'm getting low on ideas myself. I'm thinking maybe the crank sensor is bad. Is it a common issue on these vehicles?
Has anyone else experienced the stalling with these hemi engines? I'd really appreciate any info you guys could give. Thanks a lot!
None. I figured the crank sensor would throw one if that was the problem, but with how instantaneously the vehicle shuts down I assumed that maybe it didnt have time to throw a code since it starts back up again after a few seconds.
Does it idle at all? Will it stay running at high RPM's? Has the ignition system been checked?
The crank sensor would definately throw a code. Personally, I'd take it to a dealer and have it diagnosed with the star scan. That can read all the error codes. Even the ones that don't light the MIL.
