So, I am working on my 2002 Durango, trying to replace the intermediate steering shaft. I have removed the two bolts holding the upper and lower joints on the rack and pinion/steering column. I just can't seem to get the shaft off now. It seems the shaft is seized up and won't slide into itself, which leaves me with no clearance to remove off the upper or the lower. How do I get this to collapse into itself? Nothing but brute force and it still won't budge.
