I purchased new 2014 Durango (6 cyl.) about a month ago. The shifting when I accelerate from a stop is very erratic. Sometimes it shifts fine, but sometimes it feels like it went into too high of a gear and stops accelerating. When I give it more gas, it feels like it shifts to a lower gear and takes-off unexpectedly. I cannot seem to predict to what it is going to do. Is this typical of what everyone else is experiencing with the new 8 speed transmission and I just need to get used to it and live with it?

Dealer says Transmission is "Adaptive"

This is a follow-up to my question:

I took the vehicle to the dealer who told me that the 8 speed transmission is "Adaptive" and that it learns and adjusts to the way you drive within the first 3,000 miles or so. I have 1,800 miles on it, so they say the problem should go away over time.

I cannot find any information from Dodge about the transmission being adaptive. Does anyone know if what the dealer is telling me is true?

Taking it out of Eco mode does help, but it doesn't seem like I should have to do this and sacrifice economy to make its shift smoother. Also, it's a pain to have to press the Eco mode button every time I start the car. I take a lot of short trips.
